Blog Post #7

In class we were all assigned to research a specific technology. One that I found interesting was Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg was the founder of the company in 2004. This technology was created in order to allow people an outlet to upload photos, share interests, and make connections with people all around the world. Facebook started out as a place for college students. Then in 2006 it became accessible to anyone who is over 13 due to the popularity and high demand. At this time features such as status updates and newsfeed features were added. Facebook began to receive more funding and opened up to high school students and workers from Microsoft and Apple. The reasoning for slowly allowing people to join was to make sure to create a safe space. They also made sure they had the correct technology to avoid technological problems.

There are many positives to Facebook. There are many ways to communicate with people from all around the world. It is also a good way to make connections for jobs or keep in touch with friends and family. You can also get lots of information from Facebook. There are also some negatives to Facebook. Privacy can be an issue because there are a lot of people on the site and information can spread quickly. There is also the issue of cyberbullying because people can comment or post whatever they want.
